Saving Our Valued Customer Time & Money

Why Honor Roll Painting does not advertise with Yelp, Angie’s, Home Advisor, or any other third-party platforms that are publicly traded companies. We are a small local business that values personal service and high-grade work. Please read more below.

According to Yelp, “With trusted local business information, photos, and review content, Yelp provides a one-stop local platform for consumers to discover, connect and transact with local businesses of all sizes by making it easy to request a quote, join a waitlist or make a reservation, and make an appointment or purchase.”

This statement may have been of value 20 years ago. Social media outperforms third-party platforms. This is why Yelp has an Instagram account. If you look at @honorrollpainting Instagram, then you can view all of our work with pictures of our team. You may also view more personal pics of our family sharing moments like surfing and graduation night. Not to mention, My Google Business profile offers 42 pictures of local homes Honor Roll has painted.

A quick google search will reveal that Yelp has an overall rating of 3.5 out of 5 stars, with only 63% of employees would recommend working there. If employees are unhappy, then service is low. The company has low internal control and communication within its organization. Yelp is a publicly traded company headquartered in San Francisco California with an enormous advertising and marketing budget. Yelp is a bottom-line company that leverages local small business owners into a marketing submission by controlling the front page of internal search results. Just because a company or companies are on the front page of a search result, does not imply they are a company consumers should trust. Correlation does not imply causation. Therefore, if you are looking for excellent communication and service, then it is better to communicate directly with a business rather than trust a large third-party platform corporation.

The fact of the matter is, Yelp, Angie’s, and Home Advisor constantly call and harass small business owners that will not work with them. The sales force uses aggressive and misleading tactics to boost revenue and financial statements for investors. The companies will use unfair practices to raise revenue from the advertisements of the competitors of such non-paying companies. The company’s review system is unreliable and has been infected by fake reviews by external users, such as false positive reviews submitted by a company to promote its own business. If you are under the impression that a large corporation cares about your painting job, then you are being misled. We are hearing stories from customers involving work trucks driving by their homes at odd times and hours after submitting a work request through a third-party platform like Yelp, Angie’s, Porch, and Home Advisor.

Therefore, Honor Roll Paintings is an authentic, employee-centric small business, that prides itself on excellent personal service and high-grade paint jobs that are built to last. Josh Moore, MBA.- the owner of Honor Roll Painting.
